It is a conservation trust fund created to receive and manage financial resources for the implementation of the Amazon Biocorridor Program.
Created to receive resources from the debt conversion for nature and climate, carried out by the Republic of Ecuador in partnership with The Nature Conservancy (TNC), the International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) of the United States and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

The Ecuadorian Amazon is home to a wide variety of species and ecosystems, as it is home to 65.1% of the diversity of flora and fauna in all of Ecuador; it sustains local communities; and, it offers both local freshwater and climatic benefits to the nearly 17 million inhabitants in the 24 provinces, 221 cantons, 796 urban parishes and 408 rural parishes.

The Amazon Biocorridor Program is not a piece of territory or a geographically defined area, but it is a conservation management model. It is a comprehensive response to environmental challenges, a resilient solution that operates through innovative mechanisms – both financial and conservation. Thus, the Biocorridor places the Amazon as the protagonist of a program that has the power to transform the future.
